In 2005, I came to Costa Rica as a volunteer and did what everyone ‘Don’t Do’: I fell in love with a local, packed my bags, and moved here. I immediately began working as a tour leader, guiding groups across the country to experience all it has to offer, which led me to fall in love with Costa Rica in a whole new way. In 2014, I joined the TCRN family as a travel consultant, an experience that has changed and blessed my life immensely.

Philadelphia had always been Vernita’s stage—city lights, skyscrapers, routine. But after her nanny job brought her for ten days to Manuel Antonio, something in her heart shifted. She discovered a rhythm in the rainforest, a music in the waves, and a freedom she didn’t know she’d been craving .
She returned home—but not for long. Talk of rainforest trails, monkeys, and mangroves echoed in her mind. Within months, she repacked her life and came back—this time for three months, volunteering at sanctuaries and leading tourists on wildlife hikes.
